Health Care for Alabama Veterans

Alabama has four major health care service centers placed strategically around the state. All four provide primary and acute health care - the Montgomery VA Medical Center is complemented by a sister facility, the Tuskegee VA Medical Center forty miles away. All of them are equipped to handle primary and acute care. There is also a large VA Outpatient Clinic in Mobile that handles primary care and makes referrals to the appropriate medical center as needed.

The VA Medical Centers in Alabama will provide consultation for Alabama veterans with respiratory problems. If the diagnosis is a disease that is asbestos related, the VA health system will not recognize it as service related unless the veteran can prove that the asbestos exposure which caused the disease occurred during active service.
